The proposal It was incredibly romantic. The couple was on Vacation in Maui and had hired a photographer to do a couples shoot. They were on a cliff side, overlooking the ocean and the photographer shifted Tabitha into a certain pose for the picture, she then asked her to turn around and there Ryan was down on one knee with a ring. The best part was it was all captured in photos, how could a girl say no to that?
Tabitha and Ryan were married on a warm August day in the Beautiful Alberta Rocky Mountains, in the heart of Canmore. They chose to say their I do's there, because neither of their families were from the from Alberta, so it only naturally seemed like the best place, so that both their families could experience the amazing Alberta Rockies. They chose the Cornerstone Theater as their venue, one that wasn't even on their list, but went for a wander to have a look at it anyways. They instantly fell in love with the rustic space and outdoor ceremony site, the Canmore Ranch, with its boasting mountain views. They knew, this was the right choice for them.
The couple chose a soft and subtle colour palette, to suit the brides girly and feminine taste. The bride had seen my work with the warm toffee roses in a styled shoot, I had done with Kakes By Darci and adored the uniqueness of the colour. She decided she absolutely had to incorporate the warm tone of the Toffee rose in with her favorite colours - creams, peaches and soft pinks.
Words from Tabitha & Ryan
What will you remember the most about your wedding day?
Oh my goodness, so many happy memories! We did a first look and I will always remember Ryan’s reaction seeing me for the first time. One of the pieces that was really special, was having all our close friends and families there to celebrate especially as we all live far away from each other. I knew that it would likely be one of the only times on our lives we would get the opportunity to be together for such an important day filled with happiness and love.
What songs did you choose to walk down the aisle, first dance to and why?
I chose “First Day Of My Life” by Bright Eyes. While we’ve all had people in our lives we’ve cared about and loved, Ryan was the first time I fell in love. As cheesy as it sounds, people would tell me things such as “when you know you know, it will be different…” Truthfully, I always thought that seemed a bit silly but when I met Ryan I understood what people meant. There was (and is) this amazing feeling of knowing that he’s the person I’m meant to spend the rest of my life with and build a home and family with. Every feeling I’ve had for Ryan has been new and special. The song resonated with me because it was like I had started a whole new chapter and life with Ryan.
For Him: How did you feel the first time you saw her walking down the aisle? I cried! (Tabitha’s add: happy tears we hope, lol).
For Her: How did you feel when you first saw the look on his face? Happy, grateful and filled with so much love. I couldn’t stop smiling.
What were some key elements, you absolutely had to have in your wedding?
Beautiful flowers! (Seriously!) I’ve always loved flowers. I’m the kind of girl who swoons over a pretty bouquet or even a rustic mason jar of wildflowers. I wanted to make sure the greenery and floral's were a center piece in my pictures and decor and they certainly were. The other key element was killer food especially since Ryan and I both love food this was important to us.
What made you choose Foxtail Floral Designs?
Not only is Clarissa’s work beautiful, she is such a wonderful and loving person. I had reached out to other vendors and they simply sent me back a contract. Clarissa took the time to meet me for coffee, get to know me and my vision for the day. She goes the extra mile to make your day and your flowers completely yours. The attention to detail and care is evident in her work. I honestly couldn’t have imagined anything more beautiful when I saw the bouquets, hair pieces and the set up at the ceremony site and venue.
